Technical Account Manager at Huntress. Practical cybersecurity for MSPs and IT professionals — no jargon, no scare tactics.

Frontline ambulance technician turned cybersecurity professional. Not a career path you see very often, but it turns out triage skills transfer surprisingly well.
I spent the better part of a decade in the NHS — occupational therapy assistant, physiotherapy assistant, then frontline ambulance technician with West Midlands Ambulance Service. At 28 I decided that wasn't stressful enough and pivoted into IT via an apprenticeship.
Five years as technical and security manager at a UK MSP followed — deploying security stacks for small businesses, responding to incidents, and watching the same avoidable problems play out over and over. I'm now a Technical Account Manager at Huntress Labs, which means I have an obvious stake in the MDR market. I try to be transparent about that rather than pretending to be a neutral party.
Most security content isn't written for the people who need it most — the IT technician trying to level up, the business owner who doesn't know where to start, the career changer who got into this from somewhere unexpected. This is for them.

Six areas. All practical, all grounded in what's actually happening in UK MSPs and IT teams right now.
Conditional Access, Defender, Secure Score, identity hardening. The platform most UK SMBs live on — and the one attackers know best.
RBAC, resource hardening, Sentinel, cost-conscious architecture. Cloud security that doesn't require a dedicated team to maintain.
Active campaigns targeting UK organisations. NCSC advisories translated into what you actually need to do — rather than what the advisory says you should do.
Cyber Essentials walkthroughs, real configurations, free tooling. The stuff that blocks the vast majority of attacks without a six-figure budget.
How attackers use AI right now, and how defenders can too. What's real, what's hype, and what actually changes your risk posture.
Non-traditional routes, honest advice, and what nobody tells you before you make the jump. I came from the NHS at 28 — the non-linear path is a feature, not a bug.
I work at Huntress, which means I have opinions about the MDR space. I try to be transparent about that rather than pretending otherwise. When something solves a problem I'll say so; when it doesn't, I'll say that too.
Everything is free. Most of it is practical. Some of it is mildly sarcastic about the state of the industry.
